1. What do you like most about living in Oldham County?

I really enjoy the people, and the train. You can meet all types of people here. Everyone from the super wealthy, to the almost homeless and everyone seems to interact well together. I also love the train. It makes you just take a minute (or two) to stop and remember where you are.

2. How and why did you end up as a La Grange City Council member?

I first thought about running for La Grange City Council when I managed the toy shop (The Treasured Child.) I would get to talk to a lot of people who had just moved here from every where you can think of . They would come visit the toy shop with or with out kids. I do the same thing when ever we have been on vacation , I always wanna find a toy shop. I think in our minds it’s always a fun relaxed place to visit. But anyway, people also came in to find out information and/or complain. I just thought that I am just a plain person who people don’t mind coming to with questions, problems, complaints or what ever. So I tried to fix some of the issues that were brought to my attention while I worked there. After talking to my husband Art, and great friends Rick and Trish, they convinced me that it was not a totally crazy idea. So here I am running again…

3. As a resident of La Grange, by example, you’ve been an advocate for sidewalk living. Meaning, most of the places you frequent, you can reach by walking. Can you tell me more about this decision and the quality of life available?

Wow, I have gotten so spoiled, I go for days and don’t cross the expressway, not even to go to Kroger. Living in the middle of downtown, there is nothing I can think of that I can’t get within a 6 block area (if we had blocks out here) When I start to look for a real job it is going to be a big change if I have to leave La Grange. I have worked somewhere in town for the past 16 or 17 years. Talk about spoiled..

4. What do you hope to see for the future of Oldham County?

Oldham County can only grow. I hope that we make the right decisions on how we need to make this happen. We are a very diverse community and I hope that as we develop and continue to grow, that we take this into consideration. I think the county will be a work in progress for quite some time.

5. Are there any other comments or notes you’d like to share with the readers of Oldham County Wired?

As Faith City Council Woman, I want to make sure that every person that lives here has a voice, and I really enjoy being that voice. If you ever have any questions, ideas, or problems, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I have learned that if I can’t come up with an answer or find a solution, most of the time I can come up with someone who can.
